Meet your Coaches at Mulligans
Coach Jay: From Georgia Greens to Utah Fairways
Coach Jay, a Georgia native, discovered his passion for golf later than most, picking up a club for the first time at the age of 21. That initial spark ignited a lifelong dedication to the sport, leading him to an 11-year career as a golf coach, 8 of those as a volunteer. Coach Jay has been in the Utah PGA section for 2 years and loves the comradery that accompanies being a PGA Professional.
He currently serves as the Site Coordinator and Lead Coach at Mulligan’s, where he’s instrumental in developing golfers of all skill levels. Beyond Mulligan’s, Coach Jay is also the dedicated Program Director at First Tee, shaping young lives through the game of golf and instilling valuable life skills. And for the record, he firmly believes that pineapple does not belong on pizza.
Yvonne Tran
Yvonne has been coaching with First Tee for 4 years. She has been a realtor for 20 years and has had previous careers in food service sales and non-profits. She loves getting involved in the community and working with non-profits. She is proud of the accomplishments that she has made working with non-profits over the years. Some of her favorite golf courses include Quivira Golf Club, Wasatch GC and Coyote Springs. She loves to fish, spend time on the lake, going camping, traveling and is a foodie! A fun fact about Yvonne is that she loves the lake but can’t swim or float.
Terry DeVore
Terry has always loved sports and has been involved in many different competitive leagues including basketball, football and track. But his true passion is golf – having played for almost 50 years! He is grateful for the opportunity to share that enthusiasm with the youth at First Tee. He feels fortunate to have known Jay Watters for the last 15 years and has enjoyed working at Mick Riley Golf Course for the last 6 years. He and his wife Sonja share a large family of 8 children and 23 grandchildren!
