About US

We enable kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with life skills curriculum, we create learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids carry to everything they do.

We are grateful to share the our location with the Utah Section of the PGA, a proud partner of First Tee – Utah.

Who can play?

First Tee – Utah offers educational golf programs to all youth ages 7 to 18, regardless of background or previous experience. All we ask is young people come with an open mind and positive attitude.  The Life Skills Program is conducted at various golf course locations throughout the state and is available to youth of all circumstances.

What about golf equipment?

Chapters provide access to clubs and balls. No need for special golf attire.

What if my child has never picked up a golf club before?

Our coaches are trained in positive youth development. That means they are experts in making young people feel comfortable and assure they have a positive, non-intimidating experience.

How do youth develop character values and life skills through golf?

Each lesson is designed to foster golf skills as well as help youth understand and ultimately develop First Tee’s Nine Core Values of Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility, Perseverance, Courtesy and Judgment. And, research proves it works.

How do young people progress through the program?

Participants move through different levels over time (PLAYer, Par, Birdie, Eagle, Ace) that introduce new and more advanced concepts of golf and life skills that help build character on and off the course.

Is there competition and physical activity?

Absolutely! Young people can burn up to 800 calories walking 9 holes of golf and coaches make lessons competitive while having fun. As participants get older, they have the chance to compete at local and national events held across the country.

Financial Concerns?

No one will be refused due to inability to pay.  Much of the money raised by First Tee – Utah through fundraising activities and sponsorships is used to support the cost of these educational sessions and provide scholarships to deserving youth.  We encourage youth organizations to contact us for group participation information and pricing.
