First Tee Junior Golf for Life Class Details
First Tee Programs for ages 7-9 teach the game of golf in a fun, safe, and empowering environment. At this age group, we are introducing and engaging participants with both golf and life skills. Participants will get active and play golf with their peers to help them build inner strength, self-confidence, and enthusiasm for the game. Classes are designed to accommodate new and returning golfers of the same age. Participants will register and be grouped by age and will progress through the program with lessons adjusted to challenge players at their skill level.
First Tee Programs for ages 10-12 supports the exploration of both character and golf skills in active and collaborative ways. The learning experiences in the course help to build inner strength, self-confidence, and an enthusiasm for the sport, while encouraging the development of positive Game Changing behaviors. Classes are designed to accommodate new and returning golfers of the same age. Participants will register and be grouped by age and will progress through the program with lessons adjusted to challenge players at their skill level.
First Tee Programs for ages 13+ place a greater emphasis on the personal development of participants. These lessons help participants elaborate on their understanding, applying what they have learned to new situations on and off the course to deepen their skills as they evaluate, reflect on, and provide evidence of their new understanding of life and golf skills. As participants learn more about who they are and what they are capable of, they have the opportunity at First Tee to begin to look towards the future and plan their own paths. Classes are designed to accommodate new and returning golfers of the same age.
Practice & Play (Ages 10-13)
Our Practice & Play classes are for golfers who have completed at least one of our Golf For Life classes and are ready for more on-course play experience. The schedule will alternate between a practice day and a playing day out on the course each week. If you think your child is ready for a Practice & Play class, please talk with your coach first for pre-approval before registering.
Specialty Skill Classes (Ages 11+)
After completing at least one Golf for Life Class, and with the permission of the Coach, a kid may take any of our specialty skill classes. These classes focus on a specific golf skill a kid would like to learn or improve on. In each of the skill classes the kids will continue to be taught character values and life skills and will continue to earn golf badges and character value and life skill badges.
Drain It – A putting class. Focus on the most used, often frustrating, part of the game. Distance. Direction. Reading greens. Strategy. This is about getting the ball in the hole after you’re on the green.
Save It – A chipping and pitching class. Focus on getting the ball close to the hole when you’re near the green, including bunker play. High, soft pitches. Bump-and-runs. Assessing the situation and choosing what shot to play. This is about keeping shots off your scorecard when you’ve missed the green.
Bomb It – A driving class. Focus on building and controlling speed in the swing to hit the ball far. The driver. Long and straight. This is about building a strong and reliable full swing.
Play It – A course strategy class. Focus on taking your skills to the course and playing the game. Game management. When to attack. When to lay up. How to play the game and score, not just hit shots. This is about making a good score and is oriented to those players who want to compete.
Girls Golf (Ages 7-12)
Girls golf is a great way to introduce your girl to the game of golf, new friends, and First Tee! Watch as she builds confidence and creates friendships with other girls through the game of golf. This girls-only class is coached by our experienced women coaches. This program empowers girls to accomplish goals in sports, in the community, and in life.
